Constructed of silvered aluminum, the obverse features a bust of a leftward facing Wehrmacht soldier above a small mobile swastika and engraver mark of RK, surrounded by an inscription reading PANZERAUFKLRUNGSABTEILUNG 40 (Armoured Reconnaissance Battalion 40), the reverse presents with a central odal rune unit insignia flanked by the dates 15. 8. 40 and 15. 4. 42 topped by the unit designation 14. PANZER
