This is a very nice American "Under Hammer" Percussion rifle, a rather unique design that has the percussion hammer and cap nipple on the underside of the rifle. Maker's Name E. MANSUR is stamped along the top barrel flat, but is unlisted in STOCKEL's volumes of Gun Makers. The heavy Octagonal barrel is 32" in length and has a heavily rifled bore of approximately . 55". The under hammer action is directly in front of
